How Automatic Pallet Handling Works
The principle behind this new technology is straightforward. A stack of empty pallets is loaded into the machine at floor level, where sensors detect each one as it moves through the system. The machine then feeds them out singly or takes them in singly and builds a stack efficiently.

Automatic pallet stacking keeps pallet stacks aligned automatically, eliminating the need for manual adjustment. Because pallet loading happens at floor level, a hand pallet truck, an electric stacker or a full-size forklift can load the machine.
Changing Pallets Without Rebuilding the Load
Sometimes the pallet has to change, but the goods do not. Moving from a wooden pallet to a plastic one at a hygiene boundary is the usual reason. The Paratus Change CLASSIC swaps the pallet beneath the goods in under 30 seconds, eliminating the need to manually restack heavy loads.
A heavy-duty slider on roller bearings does the work with precision, and a spring mechanism returns it ready for the next change. The unit bolts to the floor wherever you need it.

An AGV pallet truck moves loaded pallets between fixed points without a driver, running set routes between your production line, the wrapper and despatch. The vehicle follows predefined routes and onboard safety features include sensors that watch for obstacles. Automated pallet trucks earn their keep where the same route is repeated throughout every shift.
The two products work well together and can integrate with your warehouse management system. When a magazine runs empty or fills up, it signals the truck, and the truck collects or delivers a stack without anyone asking it to. This integration also maintains precise docking accuracy, which matters when a vehicle is lining itself up.
A browser-based dashboard provides operating data, cycle counts, signal status and fault history, giving you complete visibility of system performance before downtime occurs.

Material Handling Across Pallet Types
Not every site runs a single pallet, and supply chain demand changes through the year. The Euro pallet measures 1200mm by 800mm, while the standard UK pallet measures 1200mm by 1000mm, and many operations handle both.
The machines take four-way pallets in wood, plastic or metal, and a teach program adjusts the gripper positions for different pallet heights. There is a half-pallet model as well, which stacks to a maximum of 15. Where the area has to be washed down, a stainless steel build is available.

What is the difference between a pallet dispenser and a pallet stacker?
A dispenser feeds empty pallets out one at a time, usually into a line that is building loads. A stacker does the reverse and collects loose pallets into a single stack for removal. Some models do only one job, while others switch between the two from the touch panel. The right solution depends on whether your process requires pallet dispensing, stacking or both.
Do we need compressed air to run one?
Not necessarily. The Greenline runs on a 230V electrical supply on its own, so it suits a site with no air line nearby. The Flexomatic uses compressed air alongside the electrical supply, which gives you a faster cycle. We will tell you which fits when we see the position you have in mind.
Who maintains the equipment once it is installed?
Yes. Under PUWER, work equipment has to be maintained in efficient working order, so a service record is something you will want anyway. Randex supports hundreds of automated storage installations across the UK, with service contracts covering planned visits and wear parts. That keeps the machine in the condition it was signed off in.
How much space do we need to install one?
Installation typically requires less space than many customers expect, as the equipment operates entirely at floor level without the need for pits or raised platforms. A Palomat sits against a wall or a line and needs enough clearance for a pallet truck to approach the front. The Paratus bolts straight to the floor using its mounting holes. The AGV needs a route with sufficient room to turn rather than a dedicated aisle. We measure all of this on the site walk, so you know the footprint before anything is ordered.
