Our History
The history of Randex Ltd. starts in 1898 when James H. Rand Sr introduced the Visible Ledger for sale to businesses. Over the next 10 years he constantly improved the product while also expanding his markets across the United States.
In 1915, James Rand Jr organised the American Kardex Company, proving that visible records housed in steel cabinets were practical. By 1925, father and son reconciled and merged their firms, later combining with Library Bureau, Safe Cabinet Company, and the Remington Typewriter Company to form Remington Rand, Inc. in 1927.
Through the decades, the company evolved through the Sperry Rand Corporation (1955) and Kardex Systems, Inc. (1978), before Ronald Miller acquired Kardex Systems Inc. (USA) in 2003.
In 2004, Graham Roberts (formerly of Kardex Systems UK) and the Miller Family made a strategic decision to establish Randex Ltd and to focus on distributing quality storage and retrieval systems in the UK. In 2006, Randex became the UK and Ireland distributor for Compact Lift, and in 2023 became a distributor for Palomat.
