Automated Storage & Retrieval
Compact Vertical Storage Lifts
Compact vertical storage lifts transform stock handling. You get faster access to more items while using less floor space and creating better working conditions for your team. With our vertical storage lifts, you typically save up to 90% of floor area compared with standard shelving and pallet racks while using the full height of the building.
Large load trays eliminate space lost to posts or end panels. The system automatically measures goods height and compacts tray spacing for maximum storage density. Systems are available from 3 to 16 m in height and are tailored to your ceiling, floor structure, doors and truck routes. The elevator is driven by pinion wheels on homogeneous gear racks for stable movement and precise tray positioning.
Compact Single
Large volumes of smaller items or space-consuming, heavy products, with trays up to 1,500 kg.
Compact
Twin
Two load trays at once. Picking speed can more than double while the next tray is retrieved in parallel.
Compact
Double
Same family as the Twin, with double load trays in depth for more storage per square metre.
Compact
Carousel
Rotating carousel system for high-speed sequential picking

Why Choose Randex
What Sets Us Apart
Rack & Pinion 4-Wheel Drive
Our rack and pinion system with four drive wheels delivers superior stability, precision tray positioning and exceptional strength, even at maximum heights.
Speed
From rapid lead times and swift installation to same-day engineer response, we move fast. Our streamlined process gets you operational in weeks, not months.
Space Saver
Save 70 to 90% of floor space compared with shelving and pallet racks by using the full ceiling height. A single compact lift replaces rows of conventional storage, freeing valuable warehouse space.
Ergonomics
Ergonomic access delivers items to the operator at an optimal working height, with no bending, stretching or heavy lifting. Reduced physical strain supports worker safety and greater productivity.
Control
Achieve 99.9% picking accuracy with integrated LED pick-to-light indicators, laser pointers, and software-guided pick lists. You track inventory in real-time and have stock visibility.
Tailored Solutions
Every installation is custom-configured to your exact requirements, from tray sizes and load capacity to software integration and workflow optimisation. There are no off-the-shelf compromises.
Flexibility
Systems can be adapted to your premises, including roof beams, sloping roofs, external installations, or several floors and openings. You get the largest storage volume on the minimum footprint.
UK-Based Service & Support
Our own engineers are based across the UK, delivering fast response times and hands-on support. As vertical storage lift installers, we commission every machine ourselves.
Inside the Vertical
Lift Module
A vertical lift module is an enclosed retrieval system with two columns of trays and an elevator between them. Goods are measured as they go in, so tray spacing closes up and no vertical space is wasted.
Automatic height detection is what turns a tall facility into usable storage capacity. It also keeps the machine reliable, because the same tools handle a box of fasteners and a heavy casting.
Who Uses Vertical
Storage Lifts?
Vertical lift systems suit any industry where stock is small, valuable or awkward to reach. Our commercial compact lifts run in manufacturing plants, distribution centres and workshops across the UK.
Randex clients include Pfizer, Jaguar Land Rover, Rolls Royce, DHL and the Ministry of Defence. The same machine supports storage for retail distribution, pharmaceutical storage and automotive parts storage, because the configuration changes rather than the technology.

Benefits
It helps to know which benefits you will see first. Floor space is freed as soon as the machine is commissioned, while the picking efficiency and operator efficiency build over the following weeks.
Space Optimisation
Make full use of your building’s height so the smallest floor area holds the largest storage space, with layouts matched to your site.
Increased Productivity
Goods-to-person delivery cuts walking time and labour costs. Low operating costs, quick installation and short operator training support a fast return.
Improved Accuracy
LED pick-to-light and position indicators support accurate picking and help reduce the risk of incorrect picks.
Enhanced Security
Enclosed, automated storage systems protect stored items from damage, dust and unauthorised access.
Expandable & Ergonomic
Solutions are expandable as you grow and operators work at a consistent, comfortable height with less strain.

FAQs About Vertical Storage Lifts
Here is what buyers ask before they specify a machine.
What does a vertical storage lift cost?
There is no standard list price because every machine is built to suit the building. Height, tray size, load capacity and software integration all move the figure. The quickest way to get a feel for it is the Compact Configurator, which generates a specification you can submit for a costed quote. We survey the site before confirming anything.
Can a vertical storage lift be moved if we relocate?
Yes. The machines are bolted together rather than built in, so they can be dismantled and re-erected on a new site. We have occasionally used Compact Twin machines for that reason. Tell us early, because the new ceiling height decides whether it goes back up as it was.
What is the difference between a vertical lift module and a carousel?
A lift module stores goods on trays in two columns and retrieves the right one to the window. A carousel storage system rotates a loop of carriers past a fixed opening instead. Lifts suit tall buildings and mixed item heights, while carousels suit fast sequential picking over a shorter run.
